Slough finalist - HW Young Entrepreneur
Chartered Accountants Haines Watts are delighted to announce that Angela Waweru, owner of Jewel Queens, has won the local finals of the Haines Watts Young Entrepreneur Award 2010 competition, to represent the Slough area in the finals.
Jewel Queens is a virtual, interactive store that offers bespoke, timeless and exclusive handmade jewellery, all created by Angela. Customers can design their own jewellery if desired and also participate in forums offering fashion tips on how best to wear accessories. They can also hand in old jewellery to get a revived new look, to save money.
Angela recently presented to Paul Simmons, Partner at Haines Watts in Slough, for the local finals.
Paul said: “The entries for the competition have been of a very high standard and the local finalists have demonstrated true entrepreneurial spirit, with focus, dedication to the work ethic and business vision, coupled with masses of energy and a real can-do attitude. Angela stood out, with a compelling business concept and plan for the future, alongside these other qualities.”
Angela wins £250 prize money, as well as a year-long mentoring programme with one of the Haines Watts’ partners. All entries to the competition automatically received free membership of Nigel Botterill’s Entrepreneur’s Circle. Nigel is a serial entrepreneur and founder of the highly successful national “Bestof” online business directory.
Paul Simmons adds, “Haines Watts launched the Young Entrepreneur competition in the spring to seek out those who have outstanding business talent in the Thames Valley area. Our support comes at a particularly difficult time for young people – and for business – as spending cuts make it tough to get work or to get the funding needed for business growth. We wish all our candidates every success in their endeavours.”
